Every year, between the end of March and the end of April, the catwalks of the most famous Bridal Fashion Weeks in New York, Barcelona, London, and Milan establish new trends that will influence worldwide the future brides’ tastes and preferences. These fashion shows work like a sort of trends epicenter that highlights the creations made by some of the most talented designers. Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Amsale, Elie Saab, Anne Barge, and Marchesa are just some of the most renowned brands already followed by thousands of brides all over the world.
Let’s see together how to discover the trends and which are the bridal fashion shows that you can not absolutely miss.

New York Bridal Fashion Week

New York Bridal Fashion Week is the world’s most important event in the bridal fashion industry. Every year, it takes place in April and October resulting in the trends that will determine the fashion tastes for the following spring and fall seasons. The most prestigious international designers and ateliers host intimate events, exclusive presentations, and fashion parades reserved for a highly select audience. However, thanks to the increasingly virtual nature of today’s world, it is no longer necessary to have an invitation to enjoy these spectacular shows. Indeed, the Bridal Council and the individual designers decided to expand their audience by giving the possibility to the public to virtually attend the fashion parades for free, offering access to recorded clips and interviews with the stylists.

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is the largest bridal fashion event in Europe. It is held every year in April in the elegant surroundings of the Montjuïc, and it hosts fashion shows and launches of more than 300 international brands. Among the most established designers it is possible to find collections by Jesús Peiró, Pronovias Group, Rosa Clará, YolanCris, Sophie et Voilà, Marco & Maria, Sonia Peña, Carla Ruiz, Ramón Sanjurjo, Inuñez and many more. As in the case of New York, Barcelona also offers the opportunity to follow the most awaited fashion shows through a dedicated digital platform: the BBFW Digital Experience.

Milan Bridal Fashion Week

Milan Bridal Fashion Week, also known as Si SposaItalia Collezioni, is the most awaited Italian bridal fashion show. It hosts hundreds of national and international brands, giving ample visibility to handmade and made-in Italy wedding dresses. Among those attending it is possible to admire the collections of ateliers as important as Nicole Milano, Luisa Beccaria, Peter Langner, Andrea Sedici, Elisabetta Polignano, Poesie Sposa, Simone Marulli, Valentini, Amelia Casablanca, Bellantuono, Maison Signore and several other. The event is held every year in April in Milan, the capital of the Italian and international fashion industry.

In order to choose the perfect wedding dress, it is therefore essential to consider trends and news coming from the most important Bridal Fashion Weeks in the World. Anyway, it is even more important to be conscious of your personal style and taste. In fact, it is essential to think about who you are and what you want when you imagine the type of bride you want to be. A winter wedding, for example, will require some peculiarities in your dress that would not be necessary for a summer wedding. As well as a religious wedding will require some precautions that would not be necessary in the case of a symbolic wedding.

Each bride is unique, with her own character and her own style. However, it is possible to identify three general categories of brides that will help you to better define your style: the traditional bride, the contemporary bride, and the unconventional bride.

The traditional bride draws inspiration from the styles of the past and the iconic royal wedding dresses such as those worn by Grace Kelly, Kate Middleton, and Meghan Markle. This type of bride needs to look for white or ivory wedding dresses, characterized by soft and gentle lines, wide skirts, long sleeves, and long trains wearing embroidered veils.
The contemporary bride prefers silk or satin dresses that can wrap the silhouette introducing charming and unconventional details such as fine inserts, ruffles, backless or off-the-shoulder necklines.
Finally, the unconventional bride loves to go against the grain by looking for innovative dresses, characterized by unusual textures and colors with whimsical cuts or shapes.

In conclusion, we recommend you mark on your calendar the dates of the next bridal fashion weeks to stay up to date with the new trends. In this way, you will be able to identify the most influential designers and those that best suit you and your tastes. Thereby you will have all the tools you need to choose the perfect wedding dress that you have always dreamed of.
